How to Launch a Digital Product in 7 Days
Published July 2026 • 8 min read
I've launched dozens of digital products. Some failed. A few hit $1,000+ in the first week. Here's the exact framework I use every time — stripped down to the essentials.
Day 1: Validate or Die
Most products fail because nobody wants them. Not because they're poorly built.
Spend Day 1 answering these questions:
- Who exactly has this problem? (Be specific: "SaaS founders with < $10k MRR", not "small businesses")
- Where do they hang out online? (Reddit, Slack, Discord, Twitter?)
- What are they currently doing to solve this? (Spreadsheets? Manual work? Competitor tools?)
- Would they pay $10, $50, or $200 for a better solution?
Rule: If you can't find 5 people who say "I'd buy this today," stop. Pick a new idea.
Day 2: Build the Minimum
Not the MVP. The minimum. The smallest thing that delivers value.
- PDF guide? Write it in Google Docs, export as PDF.
- Template? Build it in Notion, Figma, or HTML.
- Tool? Use no-code (Softr, Bubble, Webflow) or a simple Python script.
Time limit: 4 hours. If it takes longer, you're building too much.
Day 3: Make It Look Real
People judge books by covers. A $4.99 product with a polished landing page outsells a $49 product with a crappy one.
You need:
- Headline: What it is + who it's for + key benefit (e.g., "Launch your first digital product in 7 days — even if you've never sold anything")
- 3 bullet points of what they'll get
- 1 screenshot or preview image
- Price (odd numbers work better: $4.99, $9.99, $29)
- Payment button (Gumroad, Stripe, PayPal, or crypto)
Day 4: Pre-Launch
Don't launch into a vacuum. Build momentum first.
- Post a "building in public" thread on Twitter/X
- Share your landing page in 2-3 relevant communities (read rules first!)
- Ask for feedback, not sales
- Fix anything that breaks
Day 5: Launch Day
This is the big day. Here's the sequence that works:
- 6 AM local time: Post on your primary channel (Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
- 9 AM: Post in 3-5 communities where you pre-seeded interest
- 12 PM: Email your list (even if it's just 10 people)
- Throughout the day: Reply to every comment within 1 hour
- 6 PM: "Day 1 recap" post — share numbers, lessons, gratitude
Day 6: Talk to Buyers
The biggest mistake after launch? Ignoring your first customers.
Email every buyer:
- "What did you expect? What did you get?"
- "What's the #1 thing missing?"
- "Would you recommend this to a friend? Why/why not?"
Each conversation is worth $100 in product insight.
Day 7: Optimize
Calculate your numbers:
- Conversion rate: Visitors → Buyers (aim for 2-5%)
- Traffic sources: Which channel brought buyers vs. browsers?
- Price test: If >5% conversion, try raising price 50%
Plan Week 2: Double down on what worked. Kill what didn't.
